May 29, 2013 Dear Elmsford School Community, The Elmsford Board of Education is pleased to announce Dr. Joseph L. Ricca Jr. as our new Superintendent of Schools effective September 1, 2013. Dr. Ricca comes to Elmsford from the East Hanover Township School District in East Hanover, NJ. In his nearly 4 years as Superintendent of Schools in East Hanover Township, Dr. Ricca oversaw the implementation of instructional rounds and targeted analysis of instruction throughout the district, leading to quantifiable student achievement increases. In addition, Dr. Ricca created and maintained award-winning community partnerships, while increasing grant acquisition and improving technological infrastructure and capabilities. Additionally, Dr. Ricca served on the Governor's Task Force on Anti-Bullying, sits on the County College of Morris Board of Trustees, among many other educational and professional boards and associations. Dr. Ricca holds a B.A. in History and Education from Seton Hall University, an Ed.M from Harvard University in Administration, Planning, Social Policy, Human Development and Psychology, an M.A. in Educational Leadership/Educational Administration from Caldwell College and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership/Educational Administration from Walden University. At this time, the Elmsford Board of Education would like to thank all of those involved in our Superintendent search process. Your input and views were truly beneficial in the profile development as it guided us throughout this entire process.
